Gears of War: E-Day Shows Off Nvidia RTX Power

Nvidia RTX

Nvidia RTX gets a strong showcase in Gears of War: E-Day, after The Coalition and Xbox named Nvidia the game’s exclusive PC partner to help with performance tuning and launch support. The partnership brings several GeForce technologies into the PC version, promising better frame rates, crisper visuals, and reduced input lag for RTX owners.

Performance and visual features

Built on Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12, Gears of War: E-Day includes a suite of Nvidia features: DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation, DLSS Super Resolution, and Nvidia Reflex. These technologies combine to boost performance, sharpen image quality, and lower latency for competitive responsiveness.

  • DLSS 4.5 — Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation for higher effective frame rates.
  • DLSS Super Resolution — improved spatial upscaling and detail retention.
  • Nvidia Reflex — reduced input lag for faster, more responsive gameplay.

Ray tracing and lighting

Hardware ray tracing enhances UE5’s Lumen global illumination and the new MegaLights system, enabling hundreds of dynamic, shadow-casting lights simultaneously. That produces richer, more realistic lighting and deeper shadows throughout E-Day’s environments.

“Partnering with Nvidia gives us the opportunity to further enhance that world for PC players,” said Mike Perzel, The Coalition’s Rendering Lead.

Options for non-RTX players

Players without GeForce cards aren’t excluded. The PC release also supports AMD FSR, Unreal Engine TSR, and Intel XeSS, so a wide range of upscaling options are available. Advanced Shader Delivery will ship precompiled shaders with the game to reduce load times and eliminate first-run stutter.

Platforms and release timing

E-Day will initially be available through the Microsoft Store and the Xbox PC app. Early Access for the open beta begins August 6 for pre-order customers and Xbox PC Game Pass subscribers, with the full release on October 6, 2026.

Notably, E-Day is no longer heading to PS5; it will be released on Xbox, PC, and Xbox Cloud only. That platform focus, combined with Nvidia’s aggressive DLSS rollout, makes E-Day appear intended as a showcase for RTX 50-series cards as much as a major Game Pass title.
